STEAM in AI Launchpad

AI Workshop for High School Students: Launch Your Teen’s AI Career in 2 Hours

Everyone says they’re “learning AI.” Almost none of them have built one. LaunchPad is STEAM in AI’s new hands-on AI workshop for high school students — a single live session where students spend two hours doing the building instead of the talking, and walk away with three real, working AI agents they made themselves.

What Students Actually Build in LaunchPad

In two hours, students build three small AI agents and keep all three: a homework and study agent that helps organize and work through schoolwork, a research agent that pulls together and summarizes information on a topic, and a personal task agent that keeps track of deadlines automatically.

Each one is small. Each one works by the time they log off — plus the skill to build the next one on their own.

Why LaunchPad, Why Now

The same week New York City schools moved to restrict generative AI in the classroom, new NACE data showed entry-level job postings requiring AI skills have nearly tripled since fall 2025. That gap — less AI allowed in class, more AI expected at work — isn’t closing on its own. It’s exactly where a real project, built outside school hours with guidance, does its job.

LaunchPad is built for the student who wants to start closing that gap now, not next summer.

Who LaunchPad Is For

LaunchPad is open to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. No coding experience needed — building an agent and writing code from scratch are two different skills, and this session teaches the one that matters here. Students who show up curious leave with something they built, whatever their starting point.

What Happens After LaunchPad

LaunchPad is a first step, not a one-off. Students who want to keep going often go on to apply to the STEAM in AI Summer Intensive, where this same hands-on approach goes deep on one real project over 12 weeks with 1:1 mentors from Google, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Roblox, and Genentech — the kind of project that becomes the centerpiece of a college application.
